2021 was a tough year for many people. It doesn't help that Betty White passed today, giving the last kick in the stomach to the year. Rest in peace, Betty.

 

When I first started this food blog, it was a writing assignment for one of my high school classes. I never expected it to turn into a career choice.

This is the year that I started taking over most of the photography from mom. As you can see here, my typical technique is to stand on top of the kitchen island to get top down photos. It may sound crazy, but it's working!

 

I've started helping mom with styling as well. The photography came naturally to me, for the most part, but styling is a different story. Don't worry. I'll get it.

 

Here's an example of one of my top down photos this year. You really must try this refried beans recipe. The best I've ever tried. Yum!

We also added videos this year. Have you seen them? I have 24 videos so far. I feel like I'm getting better at them, talking more. It just takes practice.

 

I think we will also need to get a separate microphone since the iPhone isn't picking up as much as I would like, from my side of the kitchen.
