When I premiered my video for Italian Pot Roast, also called Pizzaiola, the internet asked me why I didn't use the white wine when making the video. My original recipe calls for 1/2 cup white wine.

 

Since I'm under 21, I can't legally handle wine or any alcohol. I can eat the food after it's been cooked since, in most recipes, the alcohol cooks away. But, I can't handle it or add it to recipes myself.

 

Probably not a good idea for me to break the law in an online video for the entire world to see!

Because of all the tasty flavors already in the recipe, I promise you that using 1/2 cup water instead of 1/2 cup wine wasn't an issue. But, just in case you were wondering, here are some alternatives.

 

Chicken or Beef Stock. This seems to be most common.

 

Better Than Bouillon. This one is my favorite. It adds wonderful flavor as well as color. It's pretty salty, though, so use sparingly.

 

Apple, Grape, Cranberry or Pomegranate Juice. It makes sense. Wine is made from fruit juices.

 

Apple Cider Vinegar. I'm already using Balsamic Vinegar here so I wouldn't want to overdo it.

Peaches are one of my favorite things about the summer. I don't mean those peaches that are as hard as a rock. I mean those peaches that you can smell across the room. Yum!
