Sauteed Baby Bella Mushrooms
In my recipe for Sauteed Baby Bella Mushrooms, I've used butter and white wine for flavoring. My mom made these for me first and I wanted EXACTLY the same thing.
Now, I make them all the time. And, I'm more than happy to make an entire meal of them too.
What's the difference between Portobello and Portabella?
From everything I've been able to read, there is only one difference between portobello and portabella. Portabella is the small, "baby version" of the crimini mushroom.
Portobello is the mature version. Those are the ones that are about three or four inches across.
Can you eat the stems of Portobello mushrooms?
When you eat the baby version, you can easily eat the stems. You won't notice a difference. It's the mature version with the more dense stem and I have found that it's not very tasty.
I don't use the large ones often, but when I do, I cut out and discard the stem.
