I look forward to cherry season every year. Of course, cherries deserve this anticipation because they're delicious. But, did you know that you can make an easy breakfast with them? 

You will not believe how good this is! It's a French dessert (or breakfast) called Cherry Clafoutis. It's a custardy flan type breakfast. My favorite way to serve it is warm from the oven with some drizzled maple syrup. Trust me. It's a dessert you won't forget.

If it's not the right season, try using canned or frozen cherries instead.

How about maraschino cherries? Yes, I love those as well. So, I threw together a Maraschino Cherry Tres Leches Cake! Because, why not? Tres Leches cake is incredible. Why wouldn't I make a cherry version? I've made both Pumpkin Spice Tres Leches and Coconut Tres Leches. All delicious.

I developed this Tres Leches cake for ease and speed. It's the heat of the summer that makes me want to make things more quickly. I used a box mix and jarred cherries. For the other recipes, I made everything from scratch. There's no reason why you can't do things easy sometimes and more time consuming other times. It's good to have options.

But, I've recently been doing some research and I really want to try to make my own maraschino cherries because that would be really cool, especially if I can use the pressure canner to can them for storage.
